Old Warsaw

Warsaw, Poland.... the entire city had to be rebuilt after 1945, but the old city was carefully restored to the way it was before, including both historic and modern shop signs.

From the rebuilt old city wall, I caught sight of a cat lady feeding cats and pigeons, while a couple of hooded crows -- an interesting though common bird here -- watched them from underneath a tree.

The Mermaid, an emblem of the city of Warsaw -- her picture appears on all trustworthy taxis.
I finally found the famous statue of a mermaid inside of a construction site. I had to trespass in order to get a look at her. I believe this is a copy of the original statue, but that the original wasn't destroyed, only brought inside somewhere for safekeeping.
