I walked near the La Jolla Cove today; that is, around 2 miles from the beach where I've been going. There are several little cove-like beaches as well as the best known Cove. One of these little beaches is a seal pup-rearing area, the only one where baby seals are born and cared for that's not off shore. The seals had been there earlier, but only a pelican or two was there this afternoon. The pole surfers were catching waves.
